A rash of drugstore robberies has plagued the city. Joe Friday and partner Frank Smith are on the job. They interview the man who was the latest robbery victim. The laid back, rustic gent finally gives out with the story, and a clue to some fingerprint evidence.
As Friday tries to pin down the motive for the robbers choice of territory, more robberies take place. After more interviews with witnesses, a stakeout is used. After three days of waiting, cops are ready to pounce when the call comes over the radio. The big break comes after a shootout, but Friday isn’t sure this guy is the same one he has been after.
Over the next week, more robberies are stopped, but the robber that Friday is after is laying low. A tip about a domestic disturbance leads Friday to his man.
