Ely Jenkins has called a special choir practice, and the rest of the gang wonder what the importance is all about. Professor Tallent is a radio personality who has a radio contest for amateur acts to perform, and he has arranged for the choir to be on it. Practicing, the choir breaks out in song with, My Darling Clementine. At the radio station, and as choir leader, Ely tries to throw his weight around. Despite a little nervousness, and butterflies, the gang sing, Home on the Range.
If this is a contest, where are the other contestants? Patience shares a little about herself, and reads a poem, Fearless Fireman. Cliff Tyler sings, When Irish Eyes are Smiling.
Chris Jorgensen is the handyman who lives in the room behind Ely’s store, and plays accordian. Will his solo prove an embarrassment? How will the judges decide? Will Ely’s brragging on his choir members help or hurt the chances of winning? A parting song is sung, Lullabye and Goodnight.
Moral of the story: It doesn’t get you anywhere to stretch the truth.
Note: So far, this is the first show that doesn’t end with a hymn. Also, based on something said in a previous episode, this series probably aired sometime after 1934.
