A new school teacher is coming to town, and expectations are that the teacher ought to help sing with the choir. How will Patience feel about having the new soprano taking over? The choir sings, Long Long Ago. Patience is full of gossip about the new girl? Is she a young gal, or middle aged? Does she have any musical talent, or not? Rumor mills can’t agree on any detail. As welcoming committee, Ben and Ely go to the train station to meet the teacher Meanwhile, Cliff is lured into a solo by Patience and Jenny, Sleep My Wild Rose.
Introducing, Mary Castle. She’s taking over after Alice left to take a scholarship. The choir welcome her, and include her in a song, Beautiful Dreamer.
Jenny pries a confession out of her hubby, Ely, about his decision to hire the teacher. Mary hasn’t made much of a splash with the jealous Patience, but Cliff seems smitten. The choir practice continues with a hymn, Rock of Ages.
Moral of the story: If it weren’t for the bad things, we might never know the good things.
Note: There are likely episodes missing between previous episodes, and this one. Though the reasons for the switch in school teachers is explained in the show, I can’t imagine a sappy, sentimental show like this one wouldn’t have a farewell show for Alice.
