Stinky Peterson spends his pennies on a girl, Bessie. Though he wants to share and be her friend, the girl wants just one more than is offered. Will this strain the friendship of the 8 year olds? Eli is frustrated at the kids, but also at being taken advantage of by Mrs Hoskins. Are people expecting too much from him to have their packages dilivered at his store? He’s feeling like the world is conspiring against him as he waits for the gang to assemble for choir practice. Cliff sings, In the Twilight Gloom.
Eli runs the show in cleaning out his attic to make room for storing that mystery package. What oddities will he find there? The discard piles of stuff begin to fill the parlor. The gang find time to sing, Endearing Young Charms. The junk pile becomes too sentimental for Eli to throw away, but it distracts him from recieving the delivery. What is the package?
Ben is in on the surprise, then Cliff and Alice sing, We Never Miss the Happiness. Finally, pleased with his surprise gift, Eli joins the choir in singing the hymn, I Need Thee Every Hour.
Moral of the story: The job you dread so much might not have to be done anyway.
