After seeing a movie featuring James Mason, Mel and Betty discuss the well known actor. Not impressed, Mel is to act in a play the local ladies are to put on. Just then, Mrs Grimes bursts in to tell about the big name actor they got to play the lead in their play. Can you guess who it is? James mason.
The Sportsmen sing, Listen to the Mockingbird. Are Mels dreams of Hollywood fame ruined? The matter isn’t helped when Hartley Benson pops in to brag on himself. The only good news he brings is that the ladies couldn’t get James Mason after all. What’s the latest marriage troubles Mr Cushing has about his witch of a wife? Gad! What temptations will he have this time to get rid of her?
The play is called off, but if Mel can manage a passable impersonation of James Mason,he might get to play both the lead, and the part of a Chinese detective. Mrs Grimes loves the idea, so get ready for Mel to ham it up in the dramatic feat. It’s a play that has it all, swanky leading man, murder, and jokes galore.
Just for the record, and in responce to a tweet from Jimbo Mason of the Crazy World of Vic and Sade web site, he had nothing to do with stealing Mel’s part. It had to be his evil twin… or something.
