After the sucess of their 15 years on radio, Gracie reads telegrams of congradulation to George. The Happy Postman arrives to complain about his talkative wife. Reality returns when the mail brings utility bills. George and Gracie stand the risk of having their gas, lights, and water shut off.
Determined to do well, George wants the house run like a business.
While George runs out for cigars, Gracie outfits the house with a desk and furnishings, then interviews Meredeth Willson to be her secretary.
