Doc is at the Middleton homestead, and the word about the farmer’s wife isn’t good. The home remedies have only served to make her worse, but the homesteader is afraid that surgery will surely be the end of his wife. Both sides are firm, but will Doc be able to hold that gun on the husband and do surgery at the same time?
Fortunately Matt is soon on the scene after the boy was sent to town. Will Doc be allowed to force himself, and do the procedure against the permission of the husband? Lucy Middleton is able to wake up enough to make up her own mind. Now the delicate situation is in Doc’s hands. Can he succeed at the surgery that he has never performed before? Matt assists Doc, as Mr Middleton medicates himself in the Long Branch. Rallying a drunken band, will Middleton be able to rush the doctor’s office to rescue his woman?
The situation gets tense, as the waiting game begins. Matt and Chester keep the peace while Doc does his work behind closed doors. Kitty emerges, and the end looks near, but will there be good news for Lucy Middleton? Will her husband’s fears be realized, or will he be grateful for Doc?
