Calling on Holly, Matt and Chester pay her a visit to warn her of a man who was just released from prison. Why will Bruger be gunning for the woman? Her testimony is what put him behind bars, but though Holly is worried, Matt isn’t certain he’s a killer. Matt is more worried that Bruger, her ex-husband might have a mutual jealousy for her current husband.
At the train depot, Chester continues to comment on the good looks of Holly, as he joins Matt to intercept Bruger. Dean’s jealousy isn’t quite relieved to learn that Bruger isn’t interested in Holly, but in learning the truth about the crime that he took a false rap for.
In the Long Branch Kitty worries that the case may be too cold to solve, and comments on the lovely Holly’s somewhat promiscuous behavior. Even Doc feels that Holly is a born liar, but it’s the sound of a gunshot that causes Matt to spring into action.
It seems that it’s Sam Bruger’s life that is in the most danger, and Matt lets him accompany him on a visit to Holly’s house. Matt has enough information from holes in Holly’s story to grill her good. Will she come forth with the truth behind the shooting? Will Bruger learn the truth behind his old court case? Not before more gunplay goes down.
