Today, he and Betty talk about his precarious status with Mr Colby. A good impression still needs to be made on banker Grimes, so Mr Colby can get the loan he needs. Mr Potchnik, a local musician gives Mel a wquick leson on how to impersonate a rich foreign dignitary. Will Grimes believe Mel is for real?
The Sportsmen are accompanied by Victor Miller’s orchestra as they sing, My Pretty Girl. Sending Zookie out for his costume for the evening, Mel is then visited by the Mighty Potentate of the Zebra Lodge. Mr Cushing relives some of the details of a blind date, and circumstances for being lured into his unhappy marriage.
At the Colby home, Mr Grimes shares his satisfaction with the dinner. Will he be impressed with Mel’s performance? Though a rich relative migh atract the trust of a banker, Grimes shares that a foreign relative might hurt Colby’s chances. Uh-oh, can somebody warn Mel before he shows up and overplays his hand in his role? There’s just one thing that might help Mel pull off his stunt, and he somehow manages to find the luck it takes to make Grimes happy.
