In the town of Burnside, uncle Tom speaks with his niece Mary, and is upset over her apparent wealth of her family, while her father ignores his plight. Is he just a no account bum, or is there something to his claims? The family prepare for the worst from the shabby uncle Tom as they have tired of his claims but fear he may have partnered up with criminals who could do them harm. The situation has reached the ears of Lone Ranger, and he sets Tonto near by to safeguard Mary.
When a traitor shows his hand, Mary is captured, and Tonto is framed to take the blame. More than that, as details emerge, it appears the family will be forced to pay the ransome demands to get Mary back.
With plenty of caves in the mountainside, the job to find the right one that holds Mary prisoner looks like a battle that nobody can win. Tonto has been shot, and is also held in the cave. Is he as weak and tired as he lets the kidnapper believe? Thanks to the bravery of Tonto, and the dilegence of the Lone Ranger, the day is saved.
