Mel gets a visit from Mr Snoop the mailman, and learns some of the town gossip. Tommy is Betty’s younger, slang talking teenager who lays on the jive talk. He’s impressed by the fact that Mel knows a Hollywood celebrity, Betty Rhodes. Will his girlfriend Betty be jealous over the matter?
Will Mel’s publicity stunt to have a visit from his old friend win him a friend for life with Mr Colby? Or will it all go badly and make Colby want to break every bone in Mels body?
With his connections to the entertainment world, Mel is asked to connect Colby so he can get a song published. His uncle offers Mel some advice, based on his own experience with connections to stars of the vaudeville stage. If Betty Rhodes is such a big friend, then why doesn’t Mel recognize her once she arrives?
The publicity of the visiting stqar has the town buzzing, but how will Betty take it after being snubbed, and made to help clean the store for her own visit? Mel is his own worst enemy as he worries over his mistake, but Betty is forgiving about the misunderstanding, and even sings a song.
