Chester rides in to look for Matt, but the US Marshall won’t let the worried tone of Chester’s voice distract him from his winning poker hand. It’s only a matter of a visiting lawman who is looking to take in a citezen known for his violence. Will the next time we meet this newcomer be when he visits the coroner?
Later when Kitty tries to make small talk with Matt, he’s distracted by his thoughts on handling the green lawman who is bent on taking down Ricker on his own. Can he convince Toban that the job may be too big for him to handle on his own? Rickers knocks him out, not knowing what the warrant is all about, but Toban is too young and too proud to ask Matt for assistance. A showdown in the street is sure to go down.
The appointed time is reached, and Matt discovers most of the town turned out under cover to watch. Is there anything Matt can do, other than stand by and watch the proud young lawman die? Will Toban man up and let Matt serve the warrant on Rickers.
