An interview from the Golden Boys Awards in Long Beach. The original had a lot of background conversation. Not sure if I have the interviewer’s name correct. I filtered the background down to a low roar, to enhance the interview, it seems to have helped, but is still far from clear.
Don talks about his start in radio, and how he got started with Jack Benny. Don praises the loyalty of radio fans something he claims doesn’t compare to the modern television audience.
Memorable moments of touring the country during the war yers highlights crossed paths with the interviewer. The transition of Jack’s show to television is reviewed, and recounted as best as Don remembers from his point of view. . Don discusses the value of the writers to the show. The process of integrating the commercial into the show is discussed, and how it was revolutionary from the usual commercial spots.
The interviewer closes with a montage of clips from classic moments featuring Don Wilson. Show openings and commercials of various sponsors.
