In the office, Vern is to deal with a tough old bird, Mrs Purviss. His boss thinks that Margie could do the trick to soften up their client. The trouble is that Margie has other plans. A surprise birthday party for Vern is in full swing, and she misses her appointment to meet Mrs Purviss.
Instead of being upset, when word of the party that Margie has planned for her dad, Vern, reaches Mrs Purviss, the whole office turns all mushy and tenderhearted. Vern now has to play it carefully with Margie. If he comes home all happy, she might suspect he discovered the plans for the party. If he is too hard on her for missing the appointment, she might be upset and cancel the party.
Which will it be? Is the party on, or off again? It’s almost as thrilling as watching a tennis match while seated at the net. Reversals galore. Will Vern get the better of Margie and actually win out on one of his tricks? Oh come now, you should know better than that.
