A rift between Margie’s dad Vern, and her boyfriend, Freddie explodes. It’s worse than normal, and Freddie is so upset he contemplates suicide. Margie convinces him to join the French Foreign Legion instead, in hopes to play on Vern’s sympathy.
Meanwhile, Vern has a Frenchman in the penthouse apartment waiting for Margie to come home with Freddie. Though Freddie was bluffing, the Frenchman is actually someone who can sign him up in the Foreign Legion.
Everybody makes up and second thoughts abound. It’s going to take intervention at the government level to get Freddie out of his contract. The blustery Congressman is a take off of well known Senator Claghorn from the Fred Allen show, and voliced by John Brown. In the end, the Congressman has his hands tied on the matter of Foreign Affairs, so it’s up to Margie to outsmart the French Foreign Legion. Can she sabotage Freddie’s induction physical?
