Riley has a plan to go in with his friend, Gillis, and buy a car together. Peg sees trouble with the situation, but she can’t talk sense to Riley.
Although Riley and Gillis, played by John Brown, go way back, their wives and kids don’t get along well. A touchstone of their friendship relates to a little hungry puppy they once fought over as kids. It becomes important as the story progresses.
As a further experiment in cooperation, Riley and Gillis plan a picnic where they split the list of necessary items. Their efforts in sharing are put to the test as they try to drive the new car. Especially when it comes to sharing in responsibilities of ownership.
A chat with Digger O’Dell gets Peg a little creeped out. She has to run out to stop a food mixup from being eaten by Riley and Gillis. Their secret signal gets Peg even more creeped out. Mixups abound, but don’t worry, it all works out for good.
