A man, William Taylor, is suspected of a murder but is hiding out. Hop Along hears of the case,, and thinks he smells something fishy going on. Just then the man’s wife enters the scene to plead with Hoppy to help her falsely accused husband.
Hop Along Cassidy verifies what he sees as problems with the case with the story he hears from Mrs Taylor. The sheriff is a long time friend, and known to be an honest man by Hoppy, but his assistant, Biggie is a shady character. The sheriff examines the crime scene with our hero to fill in the story of the killing, and bring to light proof that Taylor couldn’t have done it.
A trap is set that’s sure to lure the real killer into it. Get ready for justice to prevail is some thrilling cowboy action. Not to mention a confession as Hoppy presents all the details of the mystery.
PS: Hoppy claims he can’t help Tayllor until he turns himself in. He wants the man to do the right thing, but then Hoppy turns right around and hides the man on his ranch. Huh? What kind of message does that send? You have to obey the law, unless you’re the hero?
