A killer is on the streets, and with Joe Friday working the Homacide Detail it’s up to him to take down the Maniac Murderer.
Young women are being brutally murdered, and disfigured. After talking to witnesses, Joe Friday and Ben Romero have figured out the killers mode of operation. Said to be something of a lady killer, he picks up women in a bar, cafe, or restaurant to lure them out with im. After that only the forensics evidence can tell the story of the murders.
Why is he doing it? What drives him to such rutal killing? More leads put Joe and Ben in a foot race after the killer as they pursue him into a warehouse. It’s another dramatic conclusion as the killer refuses to be taken alive and gunplay develops between him and Joe.
The desperate killer won’t heed Joe’s warnings or request for a peacefl end and runs out to face the squad of police armed with Tommy guns.
Note: The first witness to be interviewed is voiced by Harry Morgan, Jack Webb’s partner in the television version of Dragnet. Harry Morgan would do other voices and characters through the run of the series.
