Sade enjoys a quiet afternoon, until Uncle Fletcher and Russel come crashing in. Fletcher tripped over his shoestrings, and Russel fell down just to join him. It’s the middle of the afternoon, and even Vic joins the crowd
Russel is home erly after the principal dismissed class for a teacher meeting, and when Fletcher has grown up talk, he’s encouraged to go down to the cellar. The three gents tell that they’re going to meet with people who will announce their presence by honking their horns., Fletcher will be called on by Mr Gumpox the garbage man, Vic is expecting people from work to go on a a business trip, and Russell is expecting friends to play ball in Tappman’s vacant lot.
Vic explains how he got a new hat, and how the salesman tricked him into revealing his initials to embroider them in the hat. Apparently it’s not a wide brimmed hat, or Sade would have something to say about it. She just can’t get as fascinated with Vic’s story as he is. Will Sade ever get her quiet afternoon back?
