Sade tells Vic about strange happenings, and attests to the truth telling Mrs Harris as her source. Suddenly Rush, uncle Fletcher, and Dwight, a man who talks like he has a mouthful of shingle nails all arrive. They have a plan to sleep in the courthouse yard. Why? Fletcher shares the logic behind the wierd feat. Of course, Sade is against it.
The stunt is all because it would be an interesting article for the newspaper. The guys are all for it. They’re not afraid of anything, and since it’s late November rather than Summer, it’ll make a better story. Sade seems to have an uphill battle against her to convince her crazy menfolk to give up the idea.
The guys are bent on rounding out a group of 5 men, so they can imitate the fairy tale of the 5 sleeping beauties. At least Vic and Rush are wise enough to back out. Sade speaks the voice of wisdom, speaking on behalf of wives and mothers everywhere to shut downthe crazy stunt.
PS: Although I don’t see a problem with a mid-winter camping trip, a feat that I’ve done in some amazingly cold and snowy places, I think I’d have to vote with Sade on this one. It’s just too goofy of an idea.
Not to mention, probably, illegal! 😉
