As Rush tries to relate a story about his friends, Sade announces the Corkel’s will stop by to borrow a cup of sugar. Such a normal event for neighbors to do, except that the family lives 20 blocks away. Will Rush be able to squeeze in his story? Why are the Corkels coming so far just for a simple cup of sugar?
Mr. Corkel pops in with greetings all around. He has come over since he learned that his wife Edith was on the way for the sugar. While he waits, he tells why he’s limping. His brother Orville visits to join on the errand for sugar, and tells about his troubles in raising a pompadour hair style.
Edith Corkel arrives, and Oriville and Rush wonder at how old she is. As if its any of their business. The Corkels have news about their mother. She has joined a professional football team, and is practicing by hitting the house. Vern Corkel is worried his mom isn’t in good enough health to keep at it, but he’s not going to stop her.
It comes time for their 20 block walk home to get exercise, but with his hurt foot that has him limping, he asks Edith to carry him home.
