Jack Benny is introduced to pitch is upcoming television special. Jack tells a story about smoking a cigar, and how he got out of a traffic ticket. Johnny asks to hear about the 47th wedding anniversary of Jack and Mary.
After a station break, learn about fights between Jack and Mary. A clip of the TV special is shared of Johnny making a blooper. Jack talks about the truth of his age, and the pressure that being young had on him. A mention of George Burns making an appearance on his special is made.
Mel Blanc joins Jack and Johnny. Mel tells about his earliest radio appearance in 1927, and how he broke into voice acting. Comments about what goes on behind the scenes for voice actors is mentioned. Mel and Jack relive classic moments with Mel as the train station announcer, the Maxwell, and the English horse. What about Mel as a Mexican named Sy? Si.
Note: The hit movie of the time was the Exorcist. Gerald Ford was president. The first gasoline crisis had been in full swing, leading to future downsizing of cars. During the show Johnny asks if Jack ever resorted to dropping his pants for a laugh. His answer is no. However, if you check out this Jack Benny Interview Parts 1&2. that I posted not long ago, you might find out otherwise. I tried to locate the complete episode featured as part of the interview, but I couldn’t find it on my quick search for it. I know I have it somewhere though.
