Ranchers are upset and blame John Collier for running out on them in their time of need. Collier’s neice is left to defend his actions as the sheriff assures the crowd that water distribution will be restored. Is uncle John a coward, or might there be foul play involved with the missing man?
A letter is sent, and the bad news reaches the ears of Hoppy and California. On the scene, Hoppy suspects foul play, and begins investigating the players and motives for the disappearance. Shady characters are identified, as is the motivation to take over the water supply.
As Hoppy interviews folks around town, he fills in the details to the mystery. Trouble is brewing, and an explosive situation is about to blow up in the town meeting. What clues might Hop Along use to diffuse the tense attitudes? Secrets are exposed to save the day, but there’s still some thrilling cowboy action in store as Hoppy confronts the bad guys. Stay tuned to see if water returns to the drought ridden land, and whether John Collier is reunited with his niece.
