Here’s another trip back to season 1 of the podcast, with my original show notes.
Our featured show is Lum and Abner, it was a daily series, and we have been visiting a week back in January, 1935. The boys have started a matrimonial bureau and are busy reading mail from applicants and trying to give advice on their problems.
A note about the sponsor: Horlicks Malted Milk powder seems to be the miracle food of the nineteen thirties. It started out as a baby food, and a product meant for people recovering from an illness. Easy to digest and a source for nutrients, in either a growing infant, or a recovering body. When mixed with milk or ice cream it became a delicious treat and helped launch the boom of the malt shop era.

Bonus Track:
A promo for 19 Nocturne Boulevard, and Brown Monkey. Both are providers of new audio programming, and while not entirely family friendly for all audiences, it’s not too far off from it.
19 Nocturne Blvd is an anthology of science fiction, and dark fantasy, sometimes creepy, sometimes funny, and ranges from anamai to zombies. Brown Monkey is a comedy podcast, more often than not, totally unscripted craziness from Brownie and his polar bear friend Sherman Bear. Brownie is a small monkey, who looks at life through the eyes of a child, and relies on Sherman to take care of him and keep him out of trouble. Sherm is a college educated bear, and has endless patience for Brownies antics, but when he needs to feel the love, Brownie is there for him. There’s some bathroom humor, and an occasional warning for grown up language.
