This morning Gracie has taken the car downtown against George’s will, and now she tries to cover her tracks after she crashed it. It’s in the repair shop, but will her logic be able to fend off George’s relentless questioning? Eventually she tells him how she came to run into a parked car. The car belongs to Richar Witmark, movie star famous for his parts as thugs. George goes to ask a favor. He wants Richard to pour on the act to scare Gracie into better driving habits. The audio skips a little and replays a short bit.
As George leaves, a producer drops in with the latest script for Richard Whitmark. When Gracie comes over to apologize, will the act scare her, or will she end up driving him nuts? I vote for driving him nuts. She somehow has mistaken the tough guy for a dressmaker. With the producer on hand to witness the bad guy’s downfall, he threatens to get Bogey for the film project. Now Richard is upset, and on the warpath to find George.
Meanwhile, George’s good mood that Gracie has been taught a lesson is torn down when she tells how sweet a man that Richard Whitmark has been with her. Richard has a brief face off with George. When he has to run off on business, Richard leaves a key for Gracie to get into his house and take care of some dresses that her uplift society left.
While in the Whitmark home, , Gracie gets to meet Richard’s wife, actually Bea Benederet, and the woman thinks there’s something going on between Richard and Gracie. Can you say, “jealousy?” Through it all, Gracie remains oblivious to the tension that she’s caused.
Later, Bill Goodwin stops in to add his two cents worth to the fun, and gets scared when Richard turns on his character. Not too scared to crank out a commercial though. To set Gracie straight, George comes clean and tells Gracie about his plan to have her scared. In return, Gracie goes to Richard’s once again to settle the score there too.
Meanwhile, he has lost his part as the heavy in that new film project, so now Richard wants to try out a romantic role. Now Gracie is scared.
