As Lum and Abner ponder the big picture of solving the problem of how to spend the $10K, Elizabeth phones in to hound Abner about taking care of a few small repairs on his house. Lum’s saying about not seeing the forrest for all the trees gets Abner confused.
Mousey Gray pops in with an idea that gets Lum’s attention. Is it yet another wild idea, or one that is enticing enough to actually work? Mousey’s detailed plan for his apartment complex sounds fine, but Lum is skeptical about it until he has heard the whole plan. Mousey figures it’ll take the whole $10k to build the apartments, then take the deed to each citezen’s land to let them move in. Selling each plot of land would bring in a thousand dollars apiece, which could go to building more apartments, buy more land, then build more apartments, until the whole town is living in a furnished apartment full of modern conveniences.
Lum is sold, and the new Wonderful World Apartments are set to begin construction.
PS: Can anybody see a major flaw in the plan? Don’t worry, so will Lum and Abner, but not before a few episodes of dreaming about the new project.
