Peace and quiet has once more settled over Pine Ridge. The only problem facing Lum and Abner is how to spend the money that Diogenes left them.
Rather than keeping it for themselves, they feel it ought to be spent to make the town a better place. Abner gets confused on the topic of elevating the social life of the town. There’s no buildings tall enough to need an elevator. He also gets confused at Lum’s mention of the painting of Whistlers Mother.
Lum decides to leave the decision up to the citezens of Pine Ridge. Not mentioning that the money exists, a poll is put together to get ideas. To test it out, Cedric enters, and the question is posed, “If you had $10k, how would you spend it to better Pine Ridge?” Cedric concentrates on the matter, so Lum and Abner leave him to his thoughts. Lum tries his imaginary question out on grandpap. The first results don’t look very promising. Will Lum get the answers he’s looking for to guide him?
