After some initial joking around between Fred, Jimmy Wallington, Kenny Baker, and a substitute bandleader, it’s time for the News of the Week. The topic is on noise polution, particularly the ban on car horns honking. Kenny sings, Frenissee.
The band plays, Song of India. Fred is joined by Portland to joke about the local boat show. Then Fred interviews a man with an unusual occupation. He has a business caring for dogs, and providing a pampering service for them. The Martins sing, Skip to My Loo.
The sound man has a moment to express his disgruntled feelings over his job. Portland is back to help Fred with Kenny Bakers new idea to make some cash on the side. Kenny tries to sell Fred an almanac, and though Fred is willing, Kenny makes things difficult for himself. Kenny sings, The Way of Men.
Fred and the Texaco Workshop present the play, The Specialists Quandry. A play that revisits Dr Allen’s clinic. The amazing doctor has a problem with a man who has allergies. After a comedic build up, the cure turns out to be a simple one.
Note: With the sponsor change at the beginning of the calendar year you may have noticed several changes. Kenny Baker has joined the show, the Merrymacks have left, and the Martins have taken their place. Al Goodman has taken over the musical support, and will be offering some dialog to the show, although I wish he wouldn’t. But that’s me. Also there are two show announcers. Otherwise much of the show format is the same.
