A mystery writer and old friend of Steve Wilson confines herself in a lighthouse to seek inspiration. It’s her habit to confine herself in old, haunted houses to get her inspiration to write, although her assistant is terrified, the old writer is more practical. Is there anything to worry about?
Back in the newsroom, Steve and Lauralai have their conversation about the new year’s news stories interupted by a phone call from the author. She is letting Steve know that there seems to be some strange happenings out at the lighthouse, and to be careful when coming out since part of the road has been washed out. Knowing her no nonsense personality, Steve is intrigued enough to head out.
He takes Lauralai in Harry the Hack’s cab to where the road has been washed away near the lighthouse. They are stopped by an odd couple of characters who seem to have an aversion to women. Who are these crabby old men? Might they be to blame for the odd happenings with Steve’s author friend, Hanna?
They get to the lighthouse, and Hanna is OK, but is clueless about the odd characters. Why do the men want the lady writer out so badly? Hanna and Steve compare notes and begin to make some sense of what is really going on at the creepy place.
Steve plans to do some poking around on his own while the women folk get ready for bed, and stay safe. Yeah. Right. Like that’s going to happen.
He and Lauralai spy on the spooky happenings that are taking place under the lighthouse, and the killer who is hiding out
Steve, Lauralai, and the two other women all find themselves in danger at the hand of the evil dentist. A dentist? Not just that, but an evil genious oriental dentist who talks like a bad impression of Peter Lorre.
It’s all about a secret treasure. Hey, I think there wasan episode of Superman like this once. I’ll have to look for it and play it sometime.
But I’m getting away from the exciting conclusion
The secret of the treasure hunt comes out. Will Steve be able to think fast and save them all from being buried alive? Do I really need to ask? Harry the Hack comes back with the cops just in time for the full explanation of the mystery.
