Another Retro Plus, Double feature.
First show: Wrestling Holds, 04-04-1930.
Andy wants to show Amos a few wrestling holds. Amos is compliant as he goes along with being the practice dummy. Next, he starts to demonstrate some boxing moves, but the audio cuts off.
Second show: Violets And Orchids, with Adolph Menjou. 01-14-1944.
Andy and his latest gal, Janet leave after a pleasant evening with Amos and Ruby. Though they hit it off well, she turns Andy down for a date. When he learns from Amos and Kingfish that he has competition for her affections, he gets a job in a flower shop.
Adolph Menjou comes in to order some special flowers for his wife, a box with an orchid. Very expensive. Taking a tip from Adolph, Andy orders a box of violets to impress Janet. Very inexpensive. Lightning delivers the flowers, but you know what’s going to happend don’t you?
The boxes get mixed up. Janet is definitely impressed, and suddenly he has a date all set. At the same time Adolph Menjou is impressed, but not in a very happy way. It’ll take a lot of nerve to face up to Mr Menjou, but what about facing up to his new gal?
Kingfish tries to do him a favor, and talk to Janet. Amazingly, his help actually works. Not only that, it’s Andy’s lucky day when Adolph Menjou let’s him off the hook. Will his luck hold up with Janet?
