Step behind the scenes at a busy department store. Mr Featherstone the manager has his hands full as he has to orchestrate the show behind the merchandising. As a gimmick, a special prize of anything in the store will be given to the millionth shopper. Can it get worse? Santa claus reports in sick. Mr Potter is a floor manager, with his eye on a special gal who works in the cleaning department, and has a little boy named, Jackie. Will making sales win out over the traditional nativity scene that has always been displayed in the show window?
Mr Potter is already on the outs with his boss for the extra expenses that are being racked up for the store promotions. He takes the matter into his own hands to deliver a message of the real meaning behind Christmas. As the millionth customer crosses the threshold, will Mr Featherstone’s worst fears about giving away an expensive fur coat come to be? Will the measures he took as a safety net against losing $4000 work out for him?
A story that portrays a little of the traditional Christmas story, and the merchandising monster that commerce has made it.
