This seems to be the wrong title, and from a later season. Possibly a more accurate title might be either, “The Mink Coat,” or “Tenth Wedding Anniversary.”
Liz anticipates celebrating her ten year anniversary. George gives her a hard time about remembering, but in the end he challenges her to stick to a budget of buying each other a gift for $5. His boss, Gale Gordon, isn’t so lucky about remembering such things as anniversaries. To get out of hot water, he shops for mink coats. George orders a simple negligee. Hmm… I see a package mix up coming on.
George’s reactions are priceless as Liz describes her activities upon unwrapping her unintended present. Gale Gordon doesn’t take long to phone, and demand the packages be swapped. George panics when Liz wants to show off her coat to George’s boss and his wife, the Attiberry’s. George just doesn’t have the heart to tell her the truth.
Things don’t go well for Mr Attiberry, or George. Attiberry ends up in jail, and George has to stop trying to sneak the coat away and tell the truth. There’s one more snafu when Liz finally shares her gift with George.
Note: for no explained reason, the names of Liz and George are changed to Cooper in this episode. Rather than their original names of Cugat. This is one obvious reason to believe this is actually from a later season, since the name change din’t come until later. Also in the early shows, Mr Attiberry was normally played by Hans Conried.
