Germany has long had holdings in colonies in South American countries, and still does have prominent populations of German speaking citezens there. In the war years, this was a great point of concern. According to the propaganda, the Nazi’s were using German owned business to smuggle people in, and make others mysteriously disappear without a trace. The drama also portrays companies forcing local owned businesses to play by their rules, and even getting German consumers to influence buying habits to put undesired companies out of business. The show’s producer offers several magazine and news sources to support the claims.
