What would a radio series about American milestones be without aviation? Here’s one with a glimpse at the beginnings of how the wright brothers came to invent the airplane. we learn of a failed glider attempt that inspired them, and the accomplishment of building Their own flying machine.
Ideas are tossed off each of the other Wright brothers to perfect the machine. Now it’s time for the big day. Suspenseful moments, and last minute fears hang in the air. In voiceover, we learn of a few more famous names in aviation, and that thus far, no attempts have been a success. will they get off the ground? I think you know, and it’s just as well since the audio is cut a tad short before the ending is made known. Actually, about ahalf of the show is missing. Sorry, but if anyone knows where to find a more complete copy, let me know.
