Features Spike Jones and the City Slickers, along with Dorothey Shea the Park Avenue Hillbilly, and Myron “Mike” Wallace. Guest tonight is Tex Williams.
Spike Jones opens with Toot Toot Tootsie Goodbye. The show is to have a Western theme in honor of the guest. Mike then pitches in and helps Spike learn to talk in Western lingo.
Dorothy Shea sings, Efficiency. An interesting song about working in a factory, that poor overworked gal. Spike and Dorothy are still trying to perfect their Western style talk, to make their guest welcom.
Meanwhile, Spike plays while the vocalist sing, Jungle Town. During the song, Dorothy has gone to the library to get books to help teach Spike some last minute Western protocol. When Tex shows up, the lesson back fires on him.
To appease the popular opinion of the time, Tex sings a verse of his hit, Smoke Smoke Smoke that Cigarette. Then transitions into, That’s What I Like About the West. Tex stays around to listen to Dorothy sing, So Far.
To wrap up, the crew sing a Medley from Oklahoma including: Tex and Dorothy Singing, Oklahoma. Dorothy singing, Oh What a Beautiful Morning. Spike and the City Slickers perform, People Will Say We’re in Love.
Trivia Alert: If you think the name of Myron “Mike” Wallace sounds familiar, it should be. He’s the same Mike Wallace who later went on to fame as a news anchor, and later news producer.
