Today’s host is a newcomer to the Hollywood scene, Gloria DeHavilund. She’s looking for a trustworthy man to guide her around town. She sings, the Man I Love. Jack Carson tries to keep his inner wolf at bay as he takes her around to meet Eddie Arnold, and Carmen Miranda.
Carmen sings one of her trademark fast paced South American hits. Jack claims that he knows Spanish and can talk to Carmen in her native language. The trouble, which she doesn’t let on, is that she’s from Brazil. They don’t speak Spanish there. I don’t think the audience realizes it either, but that’s not the point. Jack is just trying to make time with Gloria.
The Hollywood tour continues as Jack and Gloria take in the sights of the celebrities houses. Jack croons to Gloria with a musical comic spoof. At Frank Sinatra’s house they ring the bell, and guess who makes an appearance…? Nope, it’s Bing Crosby. Bing jokes around about his young singing rival then sings, Irish Lullabye. Time is short and Jack escorts Gloria back home. Will he get to ask her that most important of questions? Will he kiss her goodnight? Tune in and learn the answers to those questions.
