On robbery detail, Joe Friday and partner Ben Romero hit the streets. Planning on dealing with hardcases, the cops draw weapons from the police arsenal. Joe and Ben stake out a pharmacy where they expect trouble. The problem is that trouble seems to only come when it’s not expected. More armed robberies break out, and all that can be done is to react. witnesses provide details to flesh out the investigation, and add to the case on the drugstore gang.
Friday offers voiceover to tell how the case progresses over the upcoming days and weeks. Plodding police work pays off, and prime suspects are identified. It all points to a group of hardcase thugs, known to be well armed.
Police converge on the hideout of the criminals. An ambush is set in place. Suddenly, gunfire breaks out and the cops nab their men. The desperate killers aren’t willing to go down without a fight, but Friday takes them down anyway. But wait, it’s not over yet.
Friday continues to tell in voiceover some of the paper trail that has to take place, after the bad guys are taken into custody. The drama continues when word comes that two of their thugs have broken out of jail. Back on the street, the escapees are up to their old tricks, and it isn’t long before Joe and Ben have them cornered in another gunfight.
