Elliot is Eddi, and Cathy is melba. She’s a working girl in a lunch counter, and rejects his advances at trying to pick her up. The determined Eddie won’t take no for an answer. Is he on the level? Does he have ulterior motives? How will Melba know if she doesn’t give him a chance?
Maybe Eddie is being too invasive, or rying too hard? Maybe he ought to give Melba a little breathing room. At the least Eddie is a compulsive liar who lives in a fantasy world.
All the lies and bragging just might land Eddie into trouble with a couple of tough guys, or get the cops called him for being a nuisance. He is just a harmless goof, isn’t he? He has all the earmarks of being a stalker if you ask me.
