At the breakfast table Marjorie gets a little upset. Leroy’s teasing doesn’t help, but after she storms away Birdie points out that Marjorie just needs a mom to have someone to have girl talk with. Trying to be the best mom he can, Gildersleeve tries to perk up her spirits with a gift. Too bad he is out of touch with what a modern teenage girl wants.
Visiting Catherine Milfords, Gildy is hoping for some advice on being a good mom for Marjorie. With Marjorie’s birthday coming up, an afternoon tea party is suggested. Marjorie gushes, until she finds that the friends who were invited are all of Gildersleeve friends, not hers.
Could this get any worse? Fortunately the womenfolk, Birdie and Catherine, save the day.
