A dead man is found shot in the back in Matt Dillons office. Since the man fits a description of Matt, it appears that someone is out to kill the US Marshall.
Where can Matt go for information? The Long Branch Salloon of course. Kitty knows who the would be killer is, and a confrontation, and back story comes out about a rift between Matt and the man. Word hits the streets that a killer is gunning for Matt, and soon every man in town decides that it’s open season on Matt. How can Matt figure out who started the strife? How can he discourage every gun happy man in town from shooting him down, without killing them all off?
Matt tracks down his killer, or at least the one he believes is. A mistake is made, but it only serves to make Matt all the more angry. By now Matt has it figured out and lays all his cards on the table with the one who stirred up this whole mess.
