Much of the series through these months is missing, so we pick up in a story already in progress.
Now, let’s see what’s going on down in Pine Ridge. Lum had wanted to send a love note, but Abner delivered it to the wrong person. Now Bertha Skinner thinks Lum wants to marry her, and she has taken him up on his proposal. The Skinners are going to throw a big reception, but Lum is still in hot water when he wants to get out of going. Abner’s confused messages to the Skinners have only served to dig Lum in deper to his commitment.
Lum is desperate to get out of it, but his ideas only get Abner more confused. Mention of the holidays is brought up. It’s not only Washingtons birthday today, but the anniversary of both the Boy Scouts of America, and the Girl Scouts of America. Both founded on the birthday of founder, Sir Baden Powell.
As Lum tries to explain the holidays, Abner gets confused over Lum’s explanations of them.
