Seeing a lone rider who appears in need of help, Lone Ranger and Tonto find a sheriff, clinging for his fading life to his saddle. The letter he carries sends the Masked Man to the local mining town.
In town, we learn of an old miner who is being pressured to sell to a man named Baxter. Chris is the young man who wants to marry Carol, the miners daughter. Paths cross when the local lawman doubts that a Masked man can be up to any good, and Carol is distraught over a mine accident. There’s enough going on to make the Lone Ranger think the incidents of the dead sheriff, and the miner could be connected, and he sets out to investigate. Danger awaits, and gunshots ring out. In the confusion, it’s hard to tell who the bad guys are, and Lone Ranger stands to take the blame for more crimes.
Why is Baxter so intent on old Sam’s land? The mine hasn’t been productive for years now. Is the timber on the land all that valuable to Baxter’s saw mill? The plot thickens, and takes twists and turns, troubles and dangers abound as our heros gather clues to solve this western mystery. There are plenty of questions to be answered, and it’s off to the saw mill where the Lone Ranger reveals all the secrets.
