Noticing trouble with his pistols, the Lone Ranger takes his famous guns to a gunsmith for a tune up. Later a skirmish breaks out, and the sheriff borrows a pistol from the gunsmith’s vise to use in an emergency. It seems to defeat the bandits as if by magic. Later though, when the sheriff faces down the outlaws with his own guns, he is shot down.
Seeing all this, the deputy develops a case of fear, superstition, and a lack of self confidence. He has to face his self pity, and cowardice. The Lone Ranger helps him face down the outlaws, and buy the deputy some time to deal with them later.
Seeming to have the world against him, the gunsmith goes to the deputy, and claims that he can turn his regular guns into magic guns like the one the sheriff used. Is there magic in the guns? The deputy becomes the sheriff by default, and puts them to the test. Truth is revealed, and secrets exposed. Who was that masked man? Well, maybe not that secret.
