Postum, it makes a grand cold drink at dinnertime or anytime. It helps with sleeplessness, nervousness, or indigestion.
Now let’s see what’s happening down in Pine Ridge.
There’s a gap in our story of the Matrimonial Bureau, we can assume that that whole mess with the photos has worked itself out, and lessons have been learned. The story picks up after Lum has learned some impressive news.
Lum has discovered that he is heir to a large fortune in England. Grandpap talks with Abner about how Lum won’t have to work anymore with his inheritance that’s due him. Abner corrects grandpap by showing him the letter. Nothing is confirmed yet.
Abner gets a little confused over the payout in pounds sterling, and imagines being paid off in silver teaspoons. As Jake, the hired helper, comes back to the store, Abner complains about his laziness. Abner gives Jake a chewing out that involves Widow Abernathy, and mailing the latest batch of matrimonial bureau letters. Jake is Abner’s brother in law, and he gets busy in the back room as Lum enters.
Lum has an idea to convert exactly how many pounds are in a dollar, with money based on the silver system, or gold standard, as it was back then, his method is actually pretty accurate. Still, will he actually inherit that much?
Postum, Lou Crosby shares a parting word on the merits of brewing a hot cup of the beverage.
