It’s time to hear from the man who the whole world is waiting on, Jack Benny.
Spirits run high as Don and Jac joke about their vacations. Mary tells about her visit to the hospital, and her cute doctor. The famous orchestra leader, Phil Harris, is given an introduction. Phil plays, Bye Bye Baby.
Jack continues to describe Phil as the two bounce jokes off each other, and Mary fawns over Phil’s good looks. Kenny arrives to put a new slant on a few jokes told earlier, and is introduced to Phil. After Mary gets a phone call from her doctor, Kenny Baker sings, The Way You Look Tonight.
Kenny then introduces his new giggly girlfriend to Jack. Jack has a special guest to interview, a man who drives a gas truck of aviation fuel. The bit transitions to Phil playing, Sing Lady Sing.
Jack plugs his upcoming extravaganza to reproduce on his very own program, the hit film Anthony Adverse. Watch for it next week. In closing, Don introduces that brand new product, Jello Chocolate pudding.
Note: I like this episode for a couple of reasons. Kenny Baker’s song is an all time classic, and he performs it well. Besides Phil being introduced, Mary flirts with him, much the way Phil would do with her in the mid to late 1940’s on the show.
