Vic and Sade are relaxing at home when Rush returns from an after supper excursion. He tells about Smelly Clark and how he gave a speech on the street corner. Sade picks up on a trivial point of Rushes news, and goes on a tangent about the dangers of not wearing a hat in this kind of weather.
Rush gets a toehold in the conversation and shares Smelly’s speech verbatim (at least part of it) and tells of his admiration of his friend’s bravery for having the nerve to get up in front of the rest of their friends and spill his guts like that. Oh that wacky old Rush, he can be so easily impressed.
In between comments from both Sade and Vic, Rush goes on to relate more about Smelly’s self serving speech. The motivating peech ended in something of a disaster though. But you know what to do, download the show and listen to it.
PS: Did you ever notice how Sade just interupts with any old thing she wants to say, whenever she wants, but if Rush were to do that, or even Vic for that matter, she wouldn’t stand for it? Granted, she deserves a little defference from her son, but she could stand to be a little more considerate sometimes. But that’s just my opinion. I don’t think she ever changes much over the years. Not to mention that Rush went from age 12, to 14 during the entire run of the show. Even with Billy Eidleson left for the Navy, and came back, he was still only 14 on the show.
