Down in Pine Ridge Lum and Abner are now operating the Lonesome Hearts matrimonial bureau. Abner is on the phone to talk to a potential client for the bureau.
He describes to Sister Simpson how the business works. Sign up and pay $25, send in a picture, and get pictures of all the menfolk, then just decide on someone. The flood of women clients arrive in the form of the day’s mail.
Since Lum is a client, he reads a letter or two. Has he found any women to suit him yet? A widow with land, and a pack of kids. A woman from Texas with oil wells. A woman working in a beauty salloon and looking for a younger man.
Finally, Lum is struck by a photo, and learns that she’s an actress, and circus knife thrower. Hmm… maybe not such a great idea. I wonder how many boyfriends she goes through in a season?
