With all their outside interests done away with, Lum and Abner turn all their attentions to running the Jot ‘Em Down Store. On this warm, lazy day, Abner talks with Grandpap about going to the fishing hole. They daydream about the water, thick with fish, and ready to bite. at their bait. It’s just a shame to spend the day at work in the store. The temptation is so great, but can Abner face up to ask Lum for some time off? Grandpap encourages Abner to ask, but will he?
Taking a cowards way out, and with Lum approaching, Abner claims to be feeling sick. Lum enters and seems to be trying to make arrangements with Cedric as they part ways. Abner kicks in with his routine of being sick, but will Lum fall for it?
Lum lets his buddy off, then once Abner is clear of the store, he makes his phone call to Cedric. Lum and Cedric finalize their plans that they had been discussing when Lum entered the store. They decide to meet down at the fishing hole, since the work day is pretty much shot any way.
Looks like it could be a busy day at that fishing hole down by the old oak tree.
Postum, kids love the grown up flavor and when mixed with milk they can have as much as they want.
