Connie complains to Mrs Davis aboutr Mr Boynton paying too much attention to MacDugal the frog. The silver tongued Walter Denton stops in to butter up his favorite English teacher and top off his breakfast tank. They talk about how well the fund raising for the upcoming dance is going. Rasing money by dropping dimes into a wishing well.
Behind Connie’s back, Walter shares a secret with Mrs Davis, Boynton told Hariot what he wished for when he made his deposit in the well. A lock of Connies hair. Wanting to help, Mrs Davis sneaks a small snip. The theme is set, and all her helpful friends do their best to manage a little snippet of their own.
At school, Connie meets with Boynton and MacDugal about going to the dance. She is just a little annoyed at the way MacDugal gets more attention than she does. Gulp. When the fight ends with Connie alone with MacDugal, he’ll be OK won’t he? Gulp, gulp. Don’t worry Mac, Connie’s a nonviolent revenge getting type.
In class, Stretch is the target of Connie’s attentions. Since Boynton hasn’t taken charge of the situation, Stretch offers his services to take Miss Brooks to the dance. Connie politely turns him down, but what was that mysterious snipping sound? On the way to Mr Conkins office, Connie is stopped by Harriot who claims that Boynton still wants to go to the dance with her. And there goes that snipping sound again.
Before going to Conklins office, Connie makes a pitstop in Boynton’s classroom where the science teacher is wrapping up a conversation with the litteral and grammatically correct custodian. Will Boynton pop the big question? Will he ask Connie to the dance? All that falls on her ears is that odd snipping sound again.
Finally in Conklin’s office, to ensure that she goes to the dance, Mr Conklin shares that Miss Brooks has been voted the Queen of the Ball. As she turns her back to leave… no, not another snip. Conklin breaks the news that her hair cut has been butchered. Connie isn’t happy at all as she confronts her well meaning friends.
Will Boynton’s romantic intentions melt her heart? Don’t let me spoil the fun. You know what to do, listen to the show and enjoy the anti climax awaiting the love starved English teacher. Wait for the final commercial for an additional epilog to tell how things came out at the dance.
