Lum and Abner – Pine Ridge Moving Picture Co. 380228.
Postum, Americas favorite drink present the first show in the new Lum and Abner series. Now what’s going on in Pine Ridge? In previous weeks Lum and Abner had been tgrying to raise money for an investment in a movie theater. Today they are in the Jottem Down Store talking about their plans, particularly the logistics involved, and the materials they’ll need.
Lum talks about a story he can use to produce his own original production for the movies. He talks to Abner about making his own version of Gone With the Wind. Maybe a shorter story for their first production? Something about the Great Pine Ridge Fire, instead of the Chicago fire? How about Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, maybe if they use more dwarves it’ll be even better? What about bigger dwarves?
Lum talks about casting some of the townsfolk as some of the dwarves. Abner is holding out for playing Dopey, but what part will Lum play? Lum tells why it’s important for Snow White to eat the poisoned apple, and how he’ll play the prince. More fine points of the story are told, but Abner gets confused about the Magic Mirror. Then there’s the issue of training all those forrest animals to perform.
To boost the dramatic adventure, Lum plans a huge battle scene for a super colossal production. Will Pine Ridge become the new cinema capital of the world? We can only hope.
Abner cuts in on the closing commercial, and with Lum put their own welcoming comments, and plug for the new sponsor. Bill Crosby is the announcer.
